Northport Funeral & Cremation Service family extends our warmest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family of Mr. Henry Billups, who passed away on Sunday, February 01, 2026, in Tuscaloosa, AL.
Henry Davis Billups was born on January 14, 1954, to the late Reverend John and Annie Laura Billups of Aliceville, Alabama. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother went home to be with the Lord February 1, 2026.
At an early age, Henry confessed Christ and united with New Canaan Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Zollie Horton. A gifted singer, Henry had a deep love for music and was a founding member of the Spiritual Wonder Gospel Singers of Aliceville, participating with the group from the 1960s until 1972. He attended R.J. Kirksey Elementary School and R.J. Kirksey High School and graduated from Aliceville High School in 1972. He went on to attend Stillman College, where he earned his degree in 1976. There he became a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. He continued his education attending graduate school at Xavier University in New Orleans where he earned his Pharmacy degree. Henry later moved to Tuscaloosa where he practiced and served as a pharmacist for 42 years. He joined First Baptist Church Northport where he faithfully served as a deacon, Sunday School superintendent and teacher, and member of the male chorus until his sunset on February 1, 2026.
He was preceded in death by sister Geraldine Ball, and brothers Wallace T. Billups, Marshall E. Billups, and Albert Billups.
He met his wife Redia Glover at Stillman College, and from this union Henry leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Redia Billups; children Anthony Billups (Montgomery, Alabama); daughter Laquisha Varnado (Neil) Raleigh, North Carolina and Norkeshia Billups Atlanta, Georgia; grandsons, Jayson Hicks and Anthony Billups Jr; his siblings: Mary Robinson Chicago, Illinois; Laura J. Ball (William) Chicago, Illinois; Johnny R. Billups (Donna) Chicago, Illinois; twin brother Claude D. Billups (Ethel) Birmingham, Alabama; and Donna J. Gipson (Lewis) Aliceville, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation to honor Mr. Billups' memory will take place on Friday, February 06, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Northport Funeral & Cremation Service, located at 5404 Watermelon Road, Northport, AL 35473. An Omega Ceremony will also take place at NFCS Chapel at 4:30 PM on Friday, February 6, 2026. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, February 07, 2026, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church Northport, located at 1401 12th St, Northport, AL 35476. Burial to follow at Cedar Oak Memorial Park, located at 1401 Mimosa Park Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.
