Northport Funeral & Cremation Service announces with deepest sympathy the passing of Mr. Edward G. Weigman of Tuscaloosa, AL on Saturday, September 10, 2016 in Tuscaloosa, AL. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Dianna Hammock Weigman; his daughters, Jennie Naylor, and Amy Baygents; son-in-law, Michael Baygents; grandchildren, Haley Capps, Seth Baygents, Camryn Capps, Sam Baygents and Nathan Naylor; sister, Judy Reid of Waldport, Oregon; his brothers, Daniel Weigman (Betty) of Seaside, Oregon and Joe Weigman of Newport, Oregon; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Born and raised in Eugene, Oregon, the son of Letha and Lyle Weigman, he was a resident of Tuscaloosa, Alabama for 30 years. After graduating from North Eugene High School, he enlisted in the Air Force, where he served for eight years. He met Dianna Hammock in 1968 on the beach in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and three months later they married and returned to Eugene to attend Lane Community College. While attending college, he began his 17-year career with Weyerhaeuser Company in Cottage Grove, Oregon. In 1973, he and Dianna moved to Millport, Alabama to help with start-up of the Weyerhaeuser plant there. He transferred to the Bruce, Mississippi plant in 1980 to become their Project Manager. He left there to become Plant Manager at Coastal Lumber Company in Havana, Florida and subsequently moved to Lumpkin, Georgia as the Plant Manager for St. Regis Lumber Company. In 1986, he accepted the position of Vice-President for Klumb Company, a soils and bark company in Cottondale, Alabama. He retired in 1995. He was a faithful member of Circlewood Baptist Church and a member of the Friends of Faith Sunday School Class for 30 years. He was a loving and loyal husband, father and ''Papa'', with a witty sense of humor, which his family and friends enjoyed. Ed will be cremated and his ashes will be spread on the beach in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, per his wishes, at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Circlewood Baptist Church Building Fund or the Women on Mission Angel Tree Project., 2201 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.
