Mr. Frank Piper

Frank Piper, 78, died April 3, 2023 at his home in Northport, Alabama.  He was born on June 19, 1944 in Atlanta Georgia to the late Loy Piper and Vera Maude Piper.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Douglas, Donald, Freddie and sister, Joanne.  He is survived by his wife, Joy Piper, daughters, Cindy Piper Bray, Robin Piper Smith (Jonathan), and Rebecca Colburn Sewell (Josh), and brother Daniel Piper (Ann).  He is also survived by grandchildren, Christian Bray, Collin Bray, Madison Merritt, Alexis Sewell, Andi Sewell, Harper Sewell and Piper Sewell, along with a host of nieces and nephews. 

Frank’s career included 30 years at General Motors.  He was employed at Lakewood and Doraville, Georgia; also at Delphi in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  After retiring, his hobbies included gardening and tinkering on classic cars. He had a special place in his heart for cats and most importantly he had a heart for helping others.  He attended Northridge Baptist and Northport Church of God. 

Frank was loved by his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed.  Pallbearers are Christian Bray, Collin Bray, Randy Mathis, O’Neil Mathis, Tim Piper and Wesley Cockrell.  Honorary pallbearers are Amy Noland (Jason) and family, Jill Kjar (Paul), Rita Ray, Dr Wilhite and Oasis Hospice. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinson.org

Funeral service for Mr. Piper will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, 12:00p.m. at Northport Funeral & Cremation Service Chapel in Northport, Al. Mr. Piper will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Brother Ken Cheek will be officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Northport, Al.
