The Northport Funeral & Cremation Service family offers heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of Mr. Jerry Ellis Mitchell.
Jerry Ellis Mitchell, born March 19, 1946, departed to his heavenly home on April 10, 2026, at the age of 80. His life was marked by quiet strength, steady kindness, and a deep devotion to the people he loved.
A lifelong member of the Holt community, Jerry was known far and wide for the warmth he shared with neighbors and friends. Many will fondly remember waving and blowing their horns as they passed his shop—simple gestures that reflected the deep affection and respect the community held for him.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved little brother and best friend, Gary, whom he loved deeply and worked alongside for more than 50 years. Their bond was one of the great constants of his life, and Jerry carried that love with him always.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Mitchell, with whom he shared 37 years of companionship, devotion, and unwavering partnership; his daughter Wendy Ray (Jeff); his son Heath Mitchell (Jaime); his daughter Miranda Mitchell; as well as Steve Cobb and Kimberly Silas, who were also cherished parts of his family. Jerry was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren and a delighted great‑grandfather to two great‑grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Jerry leaves behind more than memories—he leaves a lasting imprint on the hearts of the family who cherished him and the neighbors and customers who considered him a friend. Each will carry with them the joy of every hilarious joke, every story he told, and every moment of friendship he created. His presence lives on in the laughter he sparked and the connections he nurtured throughout his life.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, where loved ones will gather to honor his memory and share the stories that keep him close.
May he rest in peace.
