Northport Funeral & Cremation Service family extends our warmest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family of Mr. Louis Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, in Northport, AL. Louis Carl Mitchell, age 76, gained his heavenly wings January 24, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. Louis, or Butch as known by family & old friends, is joined in heaven by his precious daughter, Nicole Renee Fetner, and parents Loyce & O.V. Mitchell. He is survived by his wife Mary; granddaughters Lauren Elizabeth Fetner & Chloe Christian Derry; sister Barbara (Gene) Bryan; stepchildren Jamie (Forrest) Windham, Scott (Brandi) Walker; grandchildren, Alden Adler, Ava Scott, Avery, Aubry, Alistar, Amberly; and so much loved nieces & nephews.
Louis retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2008 after nearly a 40 year career as
Chief of Accounting. Louis was an avid lover of his family, his friends, fishing, laughter, and talking. He never met a stranger. Louis will be truly missed by all of us who loved him so much.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Five Points Baptist Church in Northport, AL., from 10:00am until 11:00am. Service will begin at 11:00am with Reverend Gene Dockery, officiating.
The family wishes to thank Comfort Care Hospice of Tuscaloosa for the excellent loving care they took of Louis during his final hours on Earth. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family suggest you honor a loved one, a family friend, or friend of a friend suffering from dementia with a visit, a car ride, a cup of coffee outing, or just a quiet home visit. You will never know what your visit will mean to them and their family.
