Peter John Marrero, 86, of Tuscaloosa, died November 18, 2021 at home in Tuscaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter J. Marrero II and Ernestine Cistac Marrero, and sisters Anna Haydel, Ernestine Dale, Alma Wilt, and Ida Barocco.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Isabelle Keefe Marrero of Tuscaloosa, son Mark Marrero (Julie) of Fort Walton Beach, FL, daughters Donna Marrero (Steve Merrill) of Tuscaloosa, Debbi McGinley of Forest Hill, MD, and Leigh Marrero, of East Wareham, MA; grandchildren Adam Marrero, step-granddaughter Eliana Perilla-Rodriguez, Jacob Marrero, Taylor McGinley and Ellie McGinley; great-grandchildren Santiago Rodriguez and Antoni Marrero; sisters Mary Bauer, Edie Melancon, Ann Aleman and Barbara Lookingbill.

He was born in Harahan, LA May 13, 1935, a graduate of Jesuit High School and Loyola University in New Orleans, LA, served in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps and worked at NASA in Huntsville, AL until his retirement in 1993. He coached many years of basketball and softball at St. Joseph School and Huntsville PARA, and is a member of the Dixie Debs Youth Softball Hall of Fame.

A memorial service will be held November 29, 2021 at 1pm at Northport Funeral and Cremation Service in Tuscaloosa. Memorials may be made to the West Alabama Food Bank, 3160 McFarland BLVD, Northport, AL 35456, or DCH Manderson Cancer Center, 35401.

Compassionate, sympathetic, and professional service has been entrusted to the hands and care of the Northport Funeral & Cremation Service Professional Team.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all attendees of services and visitations are required to wear a mask and attempt to maintain 6ft social distancing.
