Mildred "Sissy" Whitley was born on September 19, 1948. She passed away on April 1, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Whitley; grandson, Trey Whitley; Mom, Valera Leonard; Father, Robert Leonard; two brothers, Gary Leonard and Dwight Leonard; and two sisters, Elaine Burns and Nancy Collins.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Whitley (Tamsin) and Kenny Whitley (Nita); one daughter, Kim Taylor (David); grandchildren, Lacey Keeth (Matt), Casey Sansom (Cliff), Dillon Kelly (Holley), Dawson Kelly, and Tristan Taylor; great grandchildren, Whitleigh Keeth, Addie Blake Sansom, Treyton Sansom, Colt Kelly, and Emma Kelly.
Mildred was so fun to be around. She loved traveling and visiting places with her husband of 60 years who passed away 6 days before her. The last few years were hard for her due to her illness. She and Don sat in their double recliner everyday holding hands. You never seen one without the other. She loved her children and grandchildren so much! Before she developed Alzheimer's she was an avid baker and could make anything from scratch.
Services for both Don and Sissy will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 2:00pm at Coker Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Coker Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Dillon Kelly, Dawson Kelly, Cliff Sansom, Matt Keeth, Tristan Taylor, and Darron Hamner.
Special thanks to Southern Care Hospice, Rosemary Turner, and Bro. Mickey Caldwell.
