Mrs. Nancy McPherson

Nancy Louise McPherson, 82, of Buhl Alabama, the Romulus community, went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM.

Nancy was born on August 1, 1940 to Simon Leroy Hargraves and Ollie Virginia Hesters in Jacksonville, Florida.

Nancy is survived by her husband, David Arthur McPherson Sr and her children; Cindy Hearn, Sue Hearn, Robert Hearn, Louise Ross and Kathy Antolick. She has 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ollie Hesters and Simon Hargraves and her three sisters, Betty Ridgon, Martha Waters and Bobbie Waters.    

Nancy touched many lives with her enthusiasm and joy of life. She loved to tell others about God's love for them. Her infectious smile warmed the heart of anyone around her.

David and Nancy moved back to Romulus (David’s family home) in December of 1994. Nancy became involved in the community but her biggest legacy is her contributions to the creation of our Romulus Volunteer Fire Department. When Romulus recognized a need for a fire department, Dorothy Gast and Nancy volunteered as first responders and were charter members of the Board of Directors. Nancy was Treasurer and Dorothy was Secretary. She helped with the fundraising and within a year funds were sufficient for the building to be paid in full when it was constructed. When she and David were on the road, as they were truck drivers, Nancy would take a bus back to Alabama to give her treasurer's report.

Nancy loved to sing. She was always in the choir. David and Nancy attended both Romulus Methodist and New Hope Baptist Church and helped with their programs.

Nancy and David loved to host gatherings and enjoyed bringing people together. Her dinner parties were famous and invitations were cherished and unlimited. 

After her love for God, she loved her family.  Her friends felt as if they knew hers and David's children and grandchildren through the stories and pictures she shared. She was much loved and will be missed dearly.

Her homegoing ceremony will be held at Romulus Methodist Church located at 16598 Romulus Church Rd, Buhl, AL on May 31, 2023. We will have a graveside service with viewing from 12:30 PM to 1 PM. Service to follow. David and family would appreciate you joining us in the Fellowship Hall for refreshments after the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Romulus Cemetery would be greatly appreciated. The cemetery is approximately 150 years old. Funds donated maintain the cemetery. Please make contributions to:
