Northport Funeral & Cremation Service family extends our warmest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family of Ms. Bonita Gail Hassell Garner.

Ms. Garner, age 69, of Tuscaloosa, AL, transition to her heavenly home September 1, 2023. Bonita, more affectionately known as Bonnie, was a woman of many talents. She married the love of her life Don on November 7, 1970. They went on to have four beautiful childern. While pregnant with their fourth child, she graduated from Shelton State Community College, earning her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree in 1983. Then, she began working at Tuscaloosa VA until 1991; when she developed serum sickness from the hepatitis B vaccine. As a result, she was forced into early retirement. Bonnie was a fighter until the end. She was very much loved and will be missed very much.

Ms. Garner is preceded in death by her parents, James Maurice Church Hassell andJo Nell Davis Hassell; granddaughters, Tiffany Lane Gann and Sammie Jo Gann.

She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Donald Ray Garner; two daugthers, Penni Lane Pollard (David) and Tabitha Gail Stines (Frankie); two sons, Charlie Andrew Garner (Brandi) and Donald Eran Garner (Nicole); one sister, Rita Hassell Howard; one brother, Jerry Maurice Hassell; grandchildren, Caleb Wayne Gann, Matthew Jeremy Gann, Alexis Maree Garner, Christopher Daniel Garner, Nova Jean Garner, Trent Alexander Stines, Kylie Gail Stines, Savannah Grace Garner and Adelyn Skye Garner; two bonus grandsons, Dalton Pollard and Nicolas Brasher.    

A private services will be held September 15, 2023 at 2pm.

Compassionate, sympathetic, and professional service has been entrusted to the hands and care of the Northport Funeral & Cremation Service Professional Team. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all attendees of services and visitations are required to wear a mask and attempt to maintain 6ft social distancing.
