March 30, 1935 — July 22, 2020

Ms. Jo K. Hutchins

Age: 85 Jo Kathleen Hutchins, born in Winston Salem, N.C., passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 22, 2020. Jo was known to be strong-willed like her mother, Kathleen W. Martin, and funny like her father, Joseph K. Martin.

After graduating magna cum laude from the University of South Alabama, Jo began her teaching career. She enjoyed living abroad and across the United States as the spouse of a US Service Member. She was an avid reader and a rescuer of animals. Jo was happiest listening to her son play music, walking on the beach, and visiting New Orleans.

While fiercely independent, above all else, Jo was a devoted mother. Her children describe her as protective, supportive, altruistic, and unconquerable.

After many years apart, Jo is now reunited with the love of her life, Henry C. Hutchins.

Jo will be greatly missed by her family: Joel H. Hutchins, Dayne Jo Rose, Shirley T. Chapin & Mark R. Sutherland, William A. Formby, Vicki & J. Kirk Martin Jr., Erin & Joseph K. Martin III, Mary & Bradley J. Martin, and Peggy Cloninger.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, no services will be held at this time.
