Northport Funeral & Cremation Service family extends our warmest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family of Mrs. Mary Deese.
Mary Elizabeth Deese, age 82, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Hospice of West Alabama. Visitation will be held from 2:15 pm to 3 pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Little Sandy Baptist Church (13281 Barbour Loop, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405). Funeral service to begin at 3 pm with Brother Ken Myers officiating. Northport Funeral & Cremation Service directing. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville, AL.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Deese; son, Adrian Curtis Patton, Jr.; grandson, Donald E. Mills; parents, Ada and Walter Moore.
She is survived by her children: Mike (Judy) Patton, Lisa Patton, Robert (Sharlene) Patton, Tina (William) Thomas, Tammy Wyatt, and Brady (Tammy) Patton, Sr.; her brother Billy (Shirley) Moore; sisters, Zella White and Brenda (Carl) Duncan; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. As well as her special daughter, Sharlene Patton, and a special sister, Carolyn Deese.
Mary loved her children, grandchildren, and family. She loved spending time with them and lots of laughs shared. She never met a stranger and treated everyone with love, kindness, and understanding. Anyone who knew her, loved her dearly. She enjoyed her long conversations with her BFFs, Edna Pinson and Ms. Virginia Nix, and long time friend, Bill Hill.
She was a member of Little Sandy Baptist Church and although she despised Facebook, she utilized it to watch Sunday's service when she was confined to her home due to failing health. She also enjoyed her many visits from Brother Ken Myers.
One of her greatest pastimes was watching the Alabama Crimson Tide on gameday Saturday's.
She raised seven children on her own at the age of 36 when she became a widow. She believed in working hard for everything she had and taught her children to do the same.
One word used to describe our mother would be HONORABLE. She will be greatly missed by all of her family, friends, church members and the community of Moundville.
The family requests that all flowers be sent to Little Sandy Baptist Church.
Compassionate, sympathetic, and professional service has been entrusted to the hands and care of the Northport Funeral & Cremation Service Professional Team.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all attendees of services and visitations are required to wear a mask and attempt to maintain 6ft social distancing.
